DC UNIVERSE Month 91, Part 2

HARLEY QUINN #53 by Elliot Kalan and Mindy Lee. Harley is making pies while trying to figure if she should go on a date with Althea King. Suddenly some in an armored suit shows up at the door, declares their name is Clang and attacks Harley. But he is stopped when his grandmother shoots at him and he is revealed to be Richie Grimaldi, who is attacking because Harley disrespected him by not going on a date with him. he and Harley talk and she explains that she wouldn’t date him because of the people that come after her. While Klang continues to plot and is going crazy waiting for Harley’s answer, they Gun Bunnies and Ravager decide to kill Harley and end the drama. Harley and Clang head to visit the tech guys who designed Clang’s suit with the goal of destroying their stuff. They introduce their team known as User Base, but Harley grabs the remote and shuts them down, telling the tech guys to leave town and get real jobs that help society. In the end, Harley tells Richie that they can be friends but they won’t date and orders him to apologize to his grandmother. That is when Harley is shot by the gun bunnies as a mysterious man sees it and says this is the perfect place for his work.

JSA #9 by Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre. Kid Eternity is dead and meets the deceased members of the JSA. Dr. Fate arrives and enters her form, amping up her powers. Hawkman and Hawkgirl are dedicated in finding her but Gentleman Ghost. Solomon Grundy, and their crew stand in their way. But Kid Eternity arrives and defeats them, saying that this Dr. Fate whose powers she is channeling is not Khalid, but Kent Nelson. Meanwhile, Alan Scott battles Johnny Sorrow, who has been masquerading as his son. That is when Jesse Quick, Jay Garrick and Alan’s real son arrive, causing Sorrow to make a hasty retreat. On Blackhawk Island, the villains search for Hawkman’s secret museum, although Ruby is having second thoughts and revealed that she is only doing this because Wotan told her that her father is alive and promised to deliver him to her if she does as he asks. They make their way underground Wotan retrieves the Spear of Destiny. Alan and his team arrive to find that Wotan and his team have already entered the museum and they are soon captured by him, with him claiming that today is the day that the Justice Society dies.

JUSTICE LEAGUE RED #1 by Saladin Ahmed and Clayton Henry. Red Tornado is running simulations about the near future and every one ends in disaster, now that the Justice League has returned. He drafts Simon Baz and Power Girl to be part of a covert team that will keep this from happening, starting with a mission for the pair to Varva, where the Varvans are preparing to unleash a weapon that will eventually lead to the ending of all life on Earth. In the process, they encounter a giant, seemingly undefeatable robot and have to work together to defeat it, only to find it was not a weapon but was growing food, which causes them to question Red Tornado’s motives. In the end, someone is observing that Red Tornado has made his move and that someone is Black Adam.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #10 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. While travelling through Hypertime, Doomsday/Tim Trapper is seriously injured by Darkseid’s Legion and transports himself to the Watchtower, asking for help from the Justice League. While they decide what to do, Batman talks with Red Tornado regarding what happened with Air Wave and it is revealed that Batman is in favor of a more severe vetting process, eliminating some current members who have not been vetted. Doomsday needs to be saved so Metamorpho is brought in to do surgery, because Time Trapper’s energy will not affect him. Meanwhile, a fire pit from Apokolips lands in Markovia and Capejos, Captain Atom, Power Girl, and Geo-Force decide to dive into the pit to see what is there, only to find a giant hand reaching for them. Elsewhere on the Watchtower, a Parademon is interrogated and it gives birth to a series of baby Parademons who attack as Metamorpho tries to finish the surgery.

JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. GODZILLA VS. KONG #3 by Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce. Four years after G-Day, Harley is in a therapy session with this particular world’s Harley Quinn; telling her she needs to find this world’s Joker. In the present day, Lex and Superman are in the Hollow Earth and facing off against a series of giant apes. Batman is with an injured Flash, who realizes that he is the best choice to get to their mech and retrieve parts for the portal to take them back home. But that may be a problem as he encounters Cheetah…and Kong! Meanwhile, Raven and Wonder Woman are captives and taken to the villains base on the USS Saratoga where they are met by Supergirl and Wonder Woman reveals she was just pretending to be captured. They take out the bad guys, except for an escaping Black Manta, and make their way inside to find Jae Jorgensen: Monarch’s Deputy Sample Archivist, who reveals that a signal has been sent out from the ship and Godzilla is coming. In the end, a weakened Superman encounters Godzilla.

KRYPTO: THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON #3 by Ryan North and Mike Norton. Winter has come and Krypto finds himself alone in the woods. He finds and rescues a lost little girl. He eventually brings her to a hospital and she is reunited with her family. In the end, a spaceship submerged deep in the water is receiving data and processing it.

MISTER TERRIFIC: YEAR ONE #4 by Al Letson and Valentine De Landro. Holt fights back against Athena’s bodyguard by suing one of his T-Shperes, which leads to an explosion within the reactor chamber that irradiates an entire area near the docks; something Batman explains to Luthor. Althea fires Cormorant who she blames for letting this happen, as she is being told that no one can enter the chamber because the Netherlight radiation is too high. She does not care-she wants the place locked down until the engine is restarted. Althea is told that she needs to get this going now or suffer severe consequences. Bruce Wayne meets with Holt, as Holt and his deceased wife were the experts regarding Netherlight energy and the pair need to find a way to fix an impending catastrophe. In the lab, Holt figures how to modify the Nexus Engine and stop things. Athena, in a radiation suit, enters the chamber and is immediately struck with lightning and that will probably change her forever. 

THE NEW GODS #9 by Ram V,  Evan Cagle and Stipan Morian. The issue begins with a narrator telling how the Nyctari invasion had changed things in the universe. Grayven has become part of the Nyctari, which is now hunting down refugees across the universe. On Wolsoon, a Green Lantern named Raker Qarrigat sends a message announcing the Nyctaris’ search for the New Gods. Forager and his bugs team up with Raker to use the Nyctari patrol ships to send out his message; eventually having Mother boost their message and it reaches the Justice League. Meanwhile, Orion has been offered the role of Highfather and takes the name Oathmaker. Kamal has been told he is the weapon they need and has issues with that. In the end, Serifan takes Kamal off the field and delivers him to the group of Granny Goodness, Desaad, and Maxwell Lord.

NIGHTWING #129 by Dan Watters and Dexter Soy. Nightwing continues his journey in Titanis, teaming up with Bailey: the beast of Titanis. Nightwing-Prime is the person intent on keeping them there and unleashes the Deathwings. Oracle ends up being his savior as she gets Nite-Mite to sleep, stopping the crisis and freeing Dick. Olivia Pearse tries to use Nightwing as part of her public relations campaign but he returns the Hostile Atmospherics Suit to her. In the end, Nightwing-Prime, who is revealed to be Bryce Moran, a member of the Teddy Gang, is now free to dispense his own brand of superhero justice, whether Nightwing likes it or not.

POISON IVY #35 by G. Willow Wilson and Marcio Takara. Ivy, janet and the rest deal with the repercussions of Croc being captured. The mysterious, scarred woman reveals she is Wendy Richardson and she had met Ivy previously when she was at the Wellness Retreat. While everyone else got cured, she had refused the antidote and, although her body fought to rid herself of the infection, it left her as she now appears. After making a trip to visit Harley, Ivy and the crew head to Seattle to speak with Bella. Harley attempts to apologize but the two factions begin to fight, leading to Ivy forcing them to stop. Ivy then takes Bella’s hand and transfers a Biotoxin into her former friend and mentor that will keep her from ever touching another living thing ever again without causing it to rot.

SECRET SIX #6 by Nicole Maines and Stephen Segovia. With Amanda at bay, Jay is intent on killing her but Dreamer interjects herself and the two brawl, allowing Deadshot to get Waller out of harm’s way. At the same time, Catman and Jon battle each other as do Black Alice and Banshee. Jon arrives and forces them to stop, leading to a confrontation between him and Jay, with Jay walking away from his boyfriend in disgust because Jon wants to do what it is right, even though he knows that Waller’s actions of late were sanctioned by the government. But what will Jay do with the drive containing this information? 

SUPERGIRL #4 by Sophie Campbell. Lesla and Kara have been taken to the Kandorian Science Council to stand trial. Lesla is sentenced to 10 years at the Cognitive Correction Facility with Kara getting a suspended sentence. Kara has a better idea and offers to act as Lesla’s mentor. Lesla rebrands herself as Luminary and has a temporary home at Lena Luthor’s. After helping Supergirl on some things, she is full of herself and considers herself to be a real superhero, although Kara tells her there is more to what she has done and she needs to be able to think on her feet. A night out at a Goth club is proposed and the trio dress in appropriate apparel and go. But Lesla immediately comes to the defense of a woman and roughs up her apparent tormentor. While Kara meets a curious tattooed man she takes an interest in, Lesla is back to dealing with the guy named Howard, who turns into a slimy creature that begins absorbing people. This is all Lesla’s fault because he accidentally injested some of a super-substance she snuck out of Kandor. Supergirl enters the creature and, even though Lesla figures things out and saves everyone. In the end, Lesla makes friends with the girl, whose name is Luna Lustrum and Lesla realizes has psionic ability. In the end, a cat is seen eating a sample of the super-substance.

SUPERMAN #29 by Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora. Superboy-Prime tells Superman how he once was Superman’s enemy but is here to make amends. Time Trapper explains that Darkseid’s Legion will not be prepared for Superboy-Prime but that he cannot accompany them to the 31st Century. Superboy-Prime punches through time and space and that takes them to a future where the Legion of Superheroes have been roundly defeated, with most, including Saturn Girl, dead. Cosmic Boy arrives and leads him to their hideout where only Dawstar, Gold Lantern, Kinetix, and Polar Boy are still alive. Cosmic Boy reveals they have captured Brainiac 5 from the Omega Legion and they also must rescue Booster Gold, who Superman now has no memory of because of events in the ALL-IN SPECIAL. As they approach the Time Institute where the Omega Legion is, Superman reveals that Cosmic Boy is actually the Chameleon from Darkseid’s Legion and he kills the Legion’s Brainiac 5. Superman finds Booster Gold who reveals he volunteered to go to the Absolute Universe but was transported here instead. As Superman frees him, they are greeted by the Omega Legion and Superboy-Prime tells Superman they have already lost and sides with the Omega Legion.

SUPERMAN: THE KRYPTONITE SPECTRUM #1 by W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo. Superman talks about his origin and the effects of the known versions of Kryptonite: green, red, black and gold. But he has discovered new forms and seeks to figure out the effects. He contacts Batman and they examine the new Kryptonite pieces: purple, cobalt, speckled and rainbow. He decides to be exposed to them and discovers that Purple K scrambles his brain and he sees time in the future. After dealing with those effects while battling Solomon Grundy, he decides to try Cobalt K next.

SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #4 by Dan Slott, Lucas Meyer, and Rafael Albuquerque. As a group of criminals tries to break into a building, they are interrupted by Man-Bat…but not THE Man-Bat. One of the criminals shoots the creature and it crashes onto Jimmy’s car. He and Tee-Nah take the creature to Dr. Leslie Tompkins for treatment. Meanwhile, Superman saves a woman tossed from a skyscraper and is weakened by the Kryptonite jewelry she is wearing. He saves her and heads to meet with Jimmy and is attacked by the Man-Bat, turning Superman into Superman-Bat. It takes Jimmy’s signal watch to cause Superman to be stopped because of the sonic sound and the bat’s enhanced hearing. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne continues to purchase Kryptonite to get it out of circulation.

TITANS #26 by John Layman and Max Raynor. Vandia comes to the decision that she doesn’t belong among humans and leaves, deciding to visit Technis. Back on Earth, Beast Boy is preparing to go on a vacation with Raven, but she declines telling him he should take Cyborg instead as he could use a friend. First stop is visiting his old Doom Patrol teammates, who tell him that Beast Girl and Negative Man are missing somewhere in Madagascar. The foursome take a Boom Tube there and immediately encounter strange creatures they have to battle. They find Beast Girl and Invisible Man, with her revealing they are on Register island and Samuel Register, the man known as The Zookeeper, has created a zoo and now he has added both Beast Boy and Beast Girl to it.

TRINITY DAUGHTER OF WONDER WOMAN #3 by Tom King and Belen Ortega. The middle version of Lizzie relates how she was able to find the Bat Corgi but also found her mother dealing with a Cerberus. She saves the Corgi but Wonder Woman gets eaten. So she messes with time and goes back in time. This time, she saves her mother but not the dog. She constantly repeats the process with the exact same results-she cannot save them both; once not able to save either of them. During one of her trips, she meets her father, Steve Trevor,who is searching for Diana. Eventually, on her 75th try, she managed to save them both. In the end, Steve is seen on the River Styx and knocks out the boatman. Could this mean he is coming back to the land of the living.

WONDER WOMAN #24 by Tom King and Daniel Sampere. Diana saves the girl, who still will only say the authorized phrases and brings looks to bring her home. But she is being observed along the way by armed men and, once at the girl’s home, they have taken her mother captive and her father is already in custody for uses words not approved. Diana fights back, speaking her mind as she does. She takes out all of the soldiers, demanding to know what Muse Man knows. In the end, one of his subordinates informs him who is causing the trouble but cannot say their name. Mouse Man knows…it’s Wonder Woman.

DC UNIVERSE Month 91, Part 1

ABSOLUTE BATMAN #11 by Scott Snyder and Clay Mann. In a past conversation with Bruce, Alfred regrets not telling him everything about Bane. Many years ago, on Santa Prisca, a young Bane’s father is part of a group looking to overthrow the government and is told a quetzal would fly free when peace is achieved. The revolution is achieved but foreign troops defeat them and Bane and his father are thrown in Pena Duro prison. After eleven years, Bane orchestrates a prison break. His father gives him a mask cut from their flag. A man in white, possibly The Joker, arrives and makes Bane an offer, leading to Bane killing his father and starting him on his violent journey. His Venom that he uses not only makes him strong but sharpens his mind. Alfred says Bane is coming and means to break Batman.

ABSOLUTE FLASH #6 by Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles. Six months ago, Digger Harkness is greeted by his former commanding officer Rudy West. After a mission went wrong in Syria, the team members were dishonorably discharged. West tells him he can expunge their records if they agree to go on a dangerous secret mission. The next day, the pair visit Leonard and Lisa Snart. She lost her legs on the Syria mission and has becoming a bitter drug dependent individual ever since. West offers the Snarts the same offer he offered Harkness. That night, Jesse James arrives, declaring how she had placed trackers on her fellow team members. West takes the Rogues to Fort Fox and says they are here because the mission is to investigate strange creatures in South America. There, they meet Barry Allen and Elenore Thawne who calls this Project Olympus and shows the Rogues the special gear they have made for them. In a flashback to 1994, a male scientist named Thawne and his assistant Jay Garrick working on an experiment similar to the one that would later give Wally his powers. When the machine is ready to explode, Thawne refuses to let Garrick shut it down, throws him into the reactor and Garrick’s body is destroyed, even though his voice can still be heard. Back in the present, Rudy finds an alien spacecraft and alien bodies. Rudy calls Wally who picks up and Rudy asks where he is. But a black bag is pulled over Rudy’s head by guards and Thawne smashes his phone.

ABSOLUTE GREEN LANTERN #5 by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay. An injured man is removed from rubble of his cafĂ© by a rescue team led by Hector Hammond. The man blames the death and destruction on Abin Sur. He explains that Hal confronted Sur about what it did to Jo, with Sur saying she will be sought and hunted and, when Hal shoots at him, he grabs Hal’s hand, crushes the gun and gives Hal the Black Hand.  The dying Sur tells Hal to fear the Black Hand and the Black Star. Meanwhile, Jo is facing off against Black Hand, that believes she is an anomaly and that she needs to take off the ring. During the fight, they end up back in Evergreen and enter the giant Green Lantern, where they find John Stewart floating in a black void and glowing with yellow light. John tells them to be without fear and that this is the voice they have been hearing,

ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER #6 by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez. John/Martian Manhunter are being attacked by the Anti-Life force while John’s wife and son are being attacked by an intruder who says he learned that everything is an empty space and learned it from ‘Bob’: the White Martian. When Bridget blows his head off, the White Martian comes out and he continues to terrorize them. John arrives at his house while the Gren Martian defeats the White Martian across the city because John has opened up his mind to his wife. In the end, it appears Tyler could be the person involved in whatever happens next.

ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #10 by Jason Aaron and Carmine Di Giandomenico. Years before Krypton exploded, Jor-El leads a rescue team and they are forced to battle attacking Magmoles. In the present, the Lazarus Corps Research Facility in Greenland is under attack by an unseen force, revealed to be Superman and the Omega Men. According to a news report, a terrorist named TIMMY Olsen is being held there. Superman succeeds in destroying the facility and beats down a modified Peacemaker Smith. Ra’s Al Ghul arrives and prepares to execute Smith but is stopped by Superman, who finds himself stabbed by Primus, who is revealed to be Talia Al Ghul.

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #11 by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman. Diana finds her spells do not work and calls on Athena for help. Diana is carried out of the pit and dreams of an incident when she was young and learned the importance of crafting a bargain. When she wakes, she meets Io, who recognizes her as the daughter of Hippolyta. Diana soon sees that there is a small city down here and that Io, who has a map of the labyrinth tattooed upon her body, has stayed all of this time so the others here would not be abandoned. Diana has managed to connect with an entity that may be Clea’s siren while in the pit and makes a deal with it. Diana bursts out and frees Ferdinand, while also confronting Clea. Diana battles with Clea and is stabbed by her, as she demands her siren. Diana pulls the spear out of her body and tosses it into the pit, followed by the entity arising and flying into Diana’s hand and morphing into the shape of that spear. Meanwhile, in the Heiron, Steve tries to revive Petra, who comes out of the water as a fish creature.

ACTION COMICS #1089 by Mark Waid and Skylar Partridge. At the Kent home, Clark’s history teacher reveals he knows Clark’s superhero identity and then reveals that he has his own secret identity as Captain Comet and has been watching Clark. He tells the tales of other heroes who turned against their people and that Clark needs to prove he is a responsible person. The next day, Clark gets into a scuffle with Braverman, pushing him into a locker harder than he should have. As Clark flees the scene, he runs into Captain Comet who challenges him to save the day without making a mess of it. He is tasked to redirect a swarm of locusts away from Smallville which, after some serious thoughts and some failures, he does. In the end, it is revealed that Captain Comet is working for General Lane.

AQUAMAN #8 by Jeremy Adams and Michael Shelfer. In the past, young Arthur talks to his father about how he could not save an entire family during a hurricane. His father’s advice if to always be the best he can be. In the present, Aquaman and ‘Justice League Blue’ fight against Dagon: a huge tentacled creature, with Aquaman being impaled by one of the tentacles. He is not killed but transformed by The Blue into their avatar. In the end, he is ready to stand with the team and face-off in final conflict with Dagon.

BATGIRL #10 by Tate Brombal and Takeshi Miyazawa. Norbu the Untested is here and prepares to battle Batgirl but her brother Tenji decides to do battle instead, leading to his father having to come to his defense and defeat the villain. While his father heals him, Batgirl and Ben engage in some combat training. Once awake, the trio agree to work together because that is what family does. Norbu bursts in, claiming they are his final test. Cass and Tenji team up to seemingly take Norbu down but he calls upon his inner power and is covered in blue light. That does not last long as he is suddenly beheaded by Wu Bing of The Blood. She tells Batgirl she has an offer for her and if she refuses, she will die.

BATMAN AND ROBIN #24 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Juni Ba, and Miguel Mendonca. Robin and the Gotham Irregulars make their way through the tunnels before Damian still suffering the effects of the Gravedigger’s poppy, hears a voice telling him to go save the “Royal family”. Meanwhile, Batman and Lautrec remain captured by someone they believed was Professor Blye but turns out to be Daniels. Back when Blye had his final confrontation with Memento, it was Daniels who stayed behind and was corrupted by Memento. Under Memento’s influence, Blye was drugged with Gravedigger’s Poppy and set up with planted evidence. Just before he can kill Batman, Robin arrives and batman frees himself. Then memento is shot by Blye and attacked by the ghosts of everyone Memento has killed, dragging memento into a deep, dark hole. Later, Batman thanks Lautrec for helping in getting his son back. In the end, Damian decides to stay and be Robin and tells the tale in his own, distinctive comic book.

BATMAN AND ROBIN: JASON TODD #3 by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. Robin is now running with Wraith, who is beating up thugs to find out who is dealing a drug called Reaper Red. Meanwhile, batman investigates someone who has been missing for some time by the name of Kevin Gilroy while Oracle finds that Hollis Janson is backed by Intergang and the probable maker of the drug. Wraith and Robin track down Janson, as does Batman. While Robin holds Janson at bay, Wraith is prepared to execute Batman until Robin intervenes. Later, Robin meets with Gilroy, telling the villain that he is not broken, although Gilroy tells him he just doesn’t know it yet.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #42 by Mark Waid and Adrian Gutierrez. As Bizarro World deals with the growing infection to the Bizarros, it is revealed that Brainzarro is attacking the planet, causing Batman, Superman, and Robin to team up with the Bizarros. Batman, Bizarro Batman and Robin meet with Bizarro Lex Luthor in search of answers while Superman and his Bizarro counterpart battles Brainzarro. After defeating him, they go into a spaceship and read from the journal of Krylak III. The dead alien saw that a crisis was coming and created the virus to make the Bizarros have rational thought. But it happens too late as Krylak III is himself infected and commits suicide. The heroes deduce that Bizarro World is about to implode and they have no way to save it.

BIRDS OF PREY #24 by Kelly Thompson and Sami Basri. The Birds try to subdue and free Barda from her possession and eventually do so with the help of a Constantine spell and by returning her power rod to her. Megaera becomes unhinged and it forces the rest of the villains to flee, with Megaera taking back the power rod that was stolen during the confusion. After tearing the place apart and Oracle digging into the hacking tech, the Birds enjoy a relaxing dinner…until Barda senses Inque hiding among them and reacts.

CATWOMAN #78 Torunn Gronbekk and Danilo Beyruth. Selina and Shota finish their plan, with the duplicate keys being given to Mitya and the originals being sent to Budapest. She contacts Mitya and tells him to meet her in Budapest and to call off the hit on her. Mitya calls his mother and orders the hit called off. Shota informs Selina that the girl everyone thought was Evie was an escort named Lise Abel. Mitya meets with his mother and reveals he knows his birth father is really Anthony Fournier and not Thoedore Belov. Meawhile, Selina digs through the files in the Belov home and finds files on her, Shota, Carmine Falcone, Louisa Falcone and Roman Sionis. Selina begins to torch the house and fights with Mitya, who apparently was responsible for Lise’ death. Katarina kills Miya and apparently dies in the fire.

CHEETAH & CHESHIRE ROB THE JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott. While Cheetah is dealing with the incredible hunger she has because of Urzkartaga while Cheshire continues doing research work on a new way to kill. Later, she takes out a bunch of would-be assassins on a mission and finds Cheetah there ahead of her. Cheshire scratches a guard and he explodes from the poison on her fingernails. Later, Cheshire unveils her plan to steal the Power Bank containing all the heroes powers on the Watchtower. It’s a difficult task and now they need to put a crew together.

DETECTIVE COMICS #1100 by Tom Taylor, Mariko Tamaki, Greg Rucka, Dan Watters, Mikel Janin, Amancay Nahuelpan,  Alvaro Martinez Bueno, and Bill Sienkiewicz. In the first tales, Batman searches for a lost dog for a deaf dog; making his way through the language barrier and eventually finding and returning the dog. In the second tale, Bruce Wayne attends a ceremonial dinner. But he has already defeated The Joker and saved the life of a philanthropist who receives an award at this dinner. In the third story, a pair of doctors talk about the number of injured criminals caused by Batman’s battles with them. It turns out one of the doctor later reminds our hero that he is making a difference as she repairs his wounds. In the final tale, Batman gives chase for a serial killer who would rather die by jumping to his death than be apprehended. Batman pursues him but it is unknown if he saves him or decides otherwise.

FIRE AND ICE: WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER #5 by Joanne Starer and Stephen Byrne. While everyone in town is still in different bodies, our heroes are still trapped in Hell with Tora having to make the choice where she would betray her best friend in order to free her mother. Bea, made aware of this from Etrigan, makes her way to her friend, encountering horrific visions along the way and being seemingly reunited with her father, who tells her that she belongs in Hell with him. Tora makes the choice to not free her mother as she knows this person is not really her. But Bea has made a different choice: to save her best friend and Tora’s mother, she agrees to stay in Hell with her ‘father’.

THE FLASH #24 by Simon Spurrier and Vasco Georgiev. Wally and Jai talk with Eclipso where Jai  tries to convince the villain that Eclipso feels disrespected by Darkseid and he just wants to be accepted. Eclipso decides to think about that and tells them to go home to those they love. On the moon, Irey discussing things with her father, who reveals that he is not the “one true Flash” and all the other Flashes are all parts of ‘Flash Prime’. Jai and the other Flash visit the Linear Men. Wade tells them that, based on the conversation Wally and Jai had with Eclipso, his plans changed and he changed Earth into a monument to Darkseid and the end has already begun. Wade goes to the moon and visits with the other Wally and Irey and tells them the same. Eclipso arrives, seeking to parley, and telling them all that the war is over and he has won.

GREEN ARROW #27 by Chris Condon and Montos. Roy has made his way out of the hospital bed and Lian is desperate to find him. She does, as he is on the roof of the hospital and he tells her his story of being a drug addict and now he is again because of what the Crimson Sand has done to him. Ollie is tracking down the Crimson Archer and sees crimson colored smoke and confronts him as he is about to shoot a drug dealer. During their battle, the Crimson Archer stabs the drug dealer and gives Ollie a choice: chase after the villain or save the drug dealer. Of course, Ollie choses to save the drug dealer, allowing the villain to escape.

GREEN LANTERN #26 by Jeremy Adams and V. Ken Marion. Beyond the Source Wall, the Emotional Entities are looking to get free and are trying to convince the heroes to let them “become one” with them. But Hal cuts a deal with them, saying if they help the Lanterns fight the Sun-Eaters the Entities. The Entities admit t are parasites and simply want to feed on the Lanterns. Hal drags them out of the Source Wall and battle the Sun-Eaters, gaining an advantage after the cut off their hands and separating them from their rings. Meanwhile, Keli, possessed by an entity, attacks Simon.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #7 by Jeremy Adams, Morgan Hampton, and Fernando Pasarin. The Starbreaker Supremacy has taken full control of the planet of Farengale and the inhabitants have no emotions about their imminent destruction. On OA, John’s mother manifests itself from his ring and John could care less, saying it is just a ring. Meanwhile, Aya and Jadestone reveal they are immune to this emotional wave because they are not organic life forms and can be the only ones to help the universe during this crisis. Their solution: visit the Source Wall and free the creatures that represent the Emotional Spectrum.

DC UNIVERSE Month 90, Part 2

GREEN ARROW #26 by Chris Condon and Montos. Ollie finds out that Roy is in the hospital, suffering from an overdose. He meets Dinah and Lian there, saying it is impossible that he has overdosed, despite his history. He goes to the scene of the incident and finds an arrow, which leads him to meet with Detective Benitez. She reveals that there was a similar incident recently, showing him Ring camera video that shows someone they are calling The Crimson Archer. In the end, Lian goes to visit her father and discovers him to be gone.

GREEN LANTERN #25 by Jeremy Adams and Xermanico. With the Emotional Spectrum destroyed, the Lanterns have to complete the new Central Power Battery. Hal and his team are sent to Gemworld to retrieve the Song Stones which they believe will charge the new Central Power Battery.  But they have to make their way through a dragon and, because of Guy’s hotheadedness, it gets away. But Starbreaker and his allies are here now to steal those crystals. Hal wrangles the dragon and the Lanterns fight the villains, but Sorrow steals two of the stones, which he activates even as the Lanterns use the other one to light their battery. Unfortunately, as  Keli is told that he glove is not what she thinks it is, Starbreaker’s lantern completely fractures the Emotional Spectrum. To be continued in GREEN LANTERN CORPS #7.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #6 by Jeremy Adams, Morgan Hampton, and V. Ken Marion. The Guardians of the Universe send Sinestro and Vexar’u to Korugar to retrieve the needed components needed to reconstruct the central power batteries. What they discover is that New Korugar had been rebuilt by Sinestro’s son Korg and General Zod’s son Lor-Zod.Lor-Zod explains they need Sinestro’s yellow battery for New Korugar to continue to thrive. Meanwhile, Jo and Jessica go to Mogo, only to find the planet is slowly healing but creating drong-like creatures in the process. In the end, a mysterious figure is seen at the Castle of Desolate Stone and is preparing for the Starbreaker Supremacy.

JSA #8 by Jeff Lemire and Diego Orletegui. Dr. Midnite, with the unconscious body of Obsidian, battles Scandal Savage, eventually knocking her out. She manages to repair Savage’s transmitter, meaning she has a way to reach the JSA. Meanwhile, the spirits of Obsidian and Jakeem try to make their way out of the labyrinth when Jakeem finds an elderly Johnny Thunder and gets him to say the magic word, bringing forth Thunderbolt, who battles Qwsp, revealing the are trapped in the Fifth Dimension. At the brownstone, Alan Scott reveals the Spear of Destiny is on Blackhawk Island. Unfortunately, he tells it to Obsidian, who is actually Johnny Sorrow, which leads the Injustice Society there.  Dr. Midnite gets through to Alan and jade and reveals Sorrow’s ruse as he finally reveals himself.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #8 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. WE ARE YESTERDAY EPILOGUE. The time-displaced heroes and villains are still anxious to get restored to their own times, with two eras of Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific working to get Air Wave back. But a timequake is disrupting things and the older timeline Mr. Terrific disappears before he can say what he has found. Time Trapper reveals that Grodd’s body has remnants of Omega Energy and that must be physically removed from him to be studied. Holt figures that if a tuning fork is used to generate the right frequency to bring Air Wave home. As the Time Trapper continues to insist that Grodd be killed, Mr. Terrific uses the tuning fork to bring Air Wave back. In the end, the time displaced are still mostly on the Watchtower. In the end, Batman tells Diana and Clark that they made a catastrophic error when they assembled this new League. The fate of the time lost is revealed in JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARK TOMORROW SPECIAL #1.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARK TOMORROW SPECIAL #1 by Marc Guggenheim, Mark Waid and Cian Tormey. Somewhere in the Time Stream, Waverider by an Omega Demon, as the same thing happens to Extant in the distant past and to Epoch in 1941.Somehow, another injured time traveler makes his way to the Watchtower in the here and now and says “we are dying”. In an effort to fight back, a team known as The Legends, is organized, made up of Air Wave, Amazing Man, Terry McGinns Batman, Marilyn Moonlight, The Huntress, Gold Beetle, Plastic Man, and Jonah Hex. Travelling through various points in time, they fight against the Omega Demons. Along the way, the new arrival, known as Legend,  takes Air Wave to Liminal Space, where he realizes that these demons are coming from The Vanishing Point. They manage to destroy the machine responsible for the Omega Demons and try to head back to the here and now, only to be stopped by a Temporal Firewall. JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. GODZILLA VS. KONG #2 by Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce.  Kong battles a giant Killer Croc, killing him in the process. Supergirl heads off to reason with Kong, who no longer remembers her, while the rest of the team face off against the combined team of the Legion of Doom, Task Force X, and the Suicide Squad, which results in Flash being critically injured by a bullet fired by Peacemaker. Batman transports Flash away as Superman heads deep into Hollow Earth and battles Luthor. But they find out they are not alone as a handful of giant apes are here too.

KRYPTO: THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON #2 by Ryan North and Mike Norton. Krypto tries to adjust to his new life with Lex but finds himself being caged and beaten. He observes Lex has he makes a bomb; planning to kill his parents with it. One morning, Lex slams the front door while leaving and it knocks over the bomb and triggers it. Lex sees the smoke and races back to free Krypto. But the dog’s barking alerts neighbors who save Lex’s parents. Calling Krypto a bad dog, the dog flees.

MISTER TERRIFIC: YEAR ONE #3 by Al Letson and Valentine De Landro. At the moment, Mister Terrific, along with mike the Apokoliptian Hellhound, are heading towards the Palace of Eternity, where they immediately encounter parademons. In the past, Luthor has his own plan and Athena has sent a strike team to Michael’s house, but come up empty. He breaks into Athena’s and meets immediate resistance from a member of Team Vantablack, who cracks open his face blame and demands to know who he is.

THE NEW GODS #8 by Ram V,  Evan Cagle and Stipan Morian. Mister Miracle suggests naming the new home for the Gods become New Light, which will be followed by the Feast of the Gods. Serifan arrives and joins the Feast. During dinner, Izaya revokes his role as Highfather. Meanwhile, Mr. Terrific and Miss Martian investigated a warehouse owned by Maxwell Lord when they are attacked by a group of armed men. Elsewhere Lord and Desaad investigate a gravitational singularity that he believes represents an echo of their reality and also that they must bring he child to Darkseid, as he believes he is not dead. The Furies along with an as yet unknown traitor are planning to make that happen.

NEW HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE #2 by Mark Waid, Brad Walker, and Michael Allred. Barry Allen continues to tell the story of the DC Universe, following the arrival of Superman, followed by Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, The Flash, Aquaman, and Green Lantern. He moves forward in time, mentioning most of the heroes of what is known as The Silver Age and, no matter how obscure, The Bronze Age, including Ambush Bug, Amethyst, and Ragman. He details the arrival of many of the superhero teams such as The Outsiders, the New Teen Titans, Justice Leage Detroit, and Infinity Inc. He ends with the arrival of Perpetua’s sons, the Monitor and the Anti-Monitor, resulting in the deaths of the Multiverse, resulting in a single reality, along with the deaths of Supergirl and Barry Allen himself.

NIGHTWING #128 by Dan Watters and Dexter Soy. Nightwing finds himself inside the creature that may be the Fifth Dimension. He gets attacked by Deathwing, who should be dead, and turns out to be a Fifth Dimension creation that is eliminated because Nightwing’s suit is radiating Kappa energy. He battles an endless supply of these creations until he is saved by Nightwing-Prime of Kandor. Prime reveals that he is Van-Zee and he took up the Nightwing mantle after his predecessor left. While trying to find out how Nightwing-Prime got here, they are attacked by caretoon versions of Robin that are exactly like Dick’s childhood drawing. The Nightwings arrive at this version of Titan Tower while Prime wonders if he is even real. The pair enter and come face to face with the Beast of Titans: a corrupt version of Dick’s own dog! Meanwhile, Maggie Sawyer meets with the injured Mayor, who knows something is wrong Olivia Pearse but cannot recall what it is. .

SECRET SIX #5 by Nicole Maines and Roger Cruz. In captivity with Deadshot and Black Alice, Dreamer has a vision of Gossamer standing over a group of dead people he has shot. Jeanette the Banshee arrives and releases them, taking them to see a captured Amanda Waller, who is scheduled to go to trial but Checkmate’s plan is to put a helmet on Waller and permanently remove her secrets from her subconscious. But they need Dreamer’s help for that to happen and she refuses, based on what she has seen in her dreams. Banshee attacks and Black Alice transforms into Athena and fights against her. Dreamer breaks Waller out of her prison and gives chase after Waller steals Deadshot’s gun. What she finds is Gossamer standing over all these dead bodies and holding documents showing how everything Waller did was approves by the U.S. Government. He convinces Dreamer that he needs to do this because of what Waller has done, including killing his mother in Gamorra. He places the helmet on Waller’s head and pushes the button that will remove those secrets from her mind.

SUPERGIRL #3 by Sophie Campbell.  Kara is now in a new costume and gaining fans in Midvale. But Lesla also has a new costume and uses a Black Kryptonite gun to change Kara and Krypto into evil Satan Girl and her equally evil dog. She then proceeds to cause havoc throughout the town, eventually trashes the garden at the Danvers house, complete with digging Lesla’s lab from underground. When Kara threatens the Danvers, Lesla’s had enough and destroys the Kryptonite machine. Streaky arrives with Tinytano, who uses his Kryptonite beams to change Kara back. Kara agrees not to punish Lesla and give her a second chance. But Lesla’s parents arrive and are going to take the pair back to Kandor for sentencing.

SUPERMAN #28 by Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora. Superman goes back to the Kent farm to get over his dealing with Validus. Saturn Girl psychically contacts him, although this is a Darkseid corrupted Saturn Girl who torments me with horrific visions including one where Ma Kent dies. At the same time, corrupted Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad launch an attack on the Watchtower, leading to Superman retaliating. In actuality, he is still in a field and all of this is in his head. Time Trapper arrives and breaks Saturn Girl’s hold on Superman and rescues him, taking him to a “pocket timeline” version of Smallville, where he meets someone to help him-Superboy Prime.

SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #3 by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque. In a flashback to a young Clark on the farm, we see how Krypto is struggling to not be playful and contain himself. In the present, Lois encourages Clark to cover the Science Expo, even if he will be exposed to Kryptonite. In Gorilla City, Tee-Nah heads to Metropolis to meet with Lois, as she has assigned her to run the Planet’s I.T. Department. Jon has been tasked with walking Krypto, which takes him across the world with a stop in Smallville. Jon goes to have a conversation with his grandmother and instructs Krypto to go back to Metropolis by himself, but he smells a familiar scent related to Toyman and gives chase, catching up to a truck driven by someone resembling Toyman. At the Expo, Toyman activates a giant robot and Krypto tears into the heart of the robot and discovers it is powered by Green Kryptonite, making Krypto very sick. Superman takes his dog to the Fortress to heal and Toyman sends a gift to apologize for the misunderstanding: Superdog toys.

TITANS #25 by John Layman and Pete Woods.  The Titans continue to battle Deathstroke and his team but, before the fight, Beast Boy concocted a plan and during the fight, Raven draws Clock King into her darkness, asking him if he wants to be remembered for being Slade’s flunky. Once he is out, he argues with Slade, telling them that he believes the Justice League will soon arrive. The person who DOES arrive is Shimmer, telling her brother that the Titans saved her and it was Clock King who was controlling her. Below the battle, Cyborg has overridden Vanadia because of a device he installed in her head. As a show of faith, he offers to give her the controller. Everything falls apart for Slade as those Clock King has controlled are now restored. Slade deserts his team, leaving Terra behind, who the Titans but into stasis.

TITANS ANNUAL 2025 #1 by Phil Jimenez. Donna Troy is on her way to visit her birth father and recalls moments in her life from being rescued by Wonder Woman to being raised on Themyscira, her first kiss with Robin, to joining the Titans and New Teen Titans, to her current relationship with Roy. When she gets to her father’s house, she meets his husband, who informs her that her father has passed away and never responded to her letters because he was afraid she wouldn’t accept him because he was gay. In the end, Donna goes on a date and we learn that Donna has a sister, named Zoe Casas Rivera.

TRINITY DAUGHTER OF WONDER WOMAN #2 by Tom King and Belen Ortega. Mid-aged Lizzie, while searching for Robin Corgi, crosses paths with Jason Todd Robin and teams with him, resulting in some uncomfortable potential romantic moments. Despite trying not to reveal his future to him, she blurts out that the Joker is going to kill him while the pair are searching in the sewers. As it turns out, Killer Croc arrives, holding Robin Corgi and then choking Robin. Lizzie kicks Croc and dispatches him, while Robin saves the dog. In the end, Lizzie kisses Robin on the cheek and says goodbye.

WONDER WOMAN #23 by Tom King and Daniel Sampere. Despite being told not to by League members  not to do what she is planning, Diana heads to Moray Island after a desperate message from Etta, telling her she has found Emelie and her daughter. Everything about the island is about Mouse Man and are only allowed to say either “Mouse Man knows” or “mice have ears”. A young girl, on her way home from school, is stopped by Mouse Man’s soldiers and she watches her father be savagely beaten. She is rescued by Diana, who had Lizzie strapped to her back, and Diana tells her she is now free to speak her mind and this causes the girl to scream.

ZATANNA #6 by Jamal Campbell. In the distant past, we see two sister princesses, both named Allura, who represent light and dark. They were separated by an arch-made named Sindella, who was Zatanna’s mother, which caused Dark Allura to be created and want to get revenge on Zatanna. Allura convinced Lady White, whose peaceful afterlife was taken by Brother Night, that she could remove the blood magic collar controlling her. She gives her the Laevateinn, a weapon made by Loki’s tongue. In the present, Lady White has stabbed Brother Night with the Laevateinn, telling her that she was lied to about the power of the weapon. Brother Night casts a spell awakening the Crimson Palace which begins to consume all the bodies and souls here, including his own, making him become one with the Crimson Palace. Zatanna returns with the Justice Leaguem who begin to free the trapped people. She makes her way into Blue Devil’s mind and finds he is under the control of the Laevateinn and she breaks the spell, producing an image of Blue Devil bathed in heavenly light and wearing angel wings. Zatanna and Clayface confront Allura and Lady White, destroying the Laevateinn and trapping Lady White in a cage. Zatanna enters her mind and sees the memories, with Zatanna telling her that Allura was never a twin sister but a dark elemental who tried to consume the princess’ soul and was defeated by Sindella. Zatanna offers Lady White a deal: help her beat Allura and she will give Lady White back control of her life. She accepts and attacks Allura, allowing Zatanna to stab Allura with a copy of the Laevateinn and casting a spell reducing her to a simple spirit, eventually turning her into a bunny. She asks what happened to Adam and Lady White, who is still keeping him as a servant, lies and says she has no idea.

DC UNIVERSE Month 90, Part 1

ABSOLUTE BATMAN #10 by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta. Batman/Bruce has been captured and is now known as Test Subject 27. Days later, he escapes but is apprehended by ‘The Prime’: Bane. Test Subject 27 was violent and combative until about three weeks into his captivity when he refused to eat and had to have a feeding tube installed. But this is a ruse as he has removed some of his own teeth to use as a weapon while also adjusting the feeding tube to expel stomach acid during combat. By collecting his own waste, he has manufactured something akin to gunpowder. He escapes again, collecting his costume, and encounters his friend Waylon Jones, who has been mutated, and Bayman rides him like a horse as he continues his escape. Bane talks with Dr. Arkham and is prepared for the final phase..

ABSOLUTE FLASH #5 by Jeff Lemire and Al Kaplan. Wally battles the flaming individual and realizes they may have a shared connection because of their powers. The pair fight, ending up in the sewers and eventually attacking the Dibney Mission. Grodd continually tells Wally to stop fighting the creature and help him instead. Meanwhile, the Rogues complain about waiting for their next assignment when Professor Thawne arrives and reminds them that their powers can easily be taken away. It is revealed that Grodd and West are in Central City and they have confronted Mick Rory, who is a former colleague. At the fight, Wally is overwhelmed by the fire and is transported to somewhere in space where he is visited by a giant hand. He wakes back at the mission and flees. In the end, Wally’s father makes his way into a ship kept in the facility and discovers creatures help in stasis.

ABSOLUTE GREEN LANTERN #4 by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay. In the present, Hall, possessed by the black hand, battles against Joe, asking her what happened in Evergreen. In the past, Jo demands a meeting with Abin Sur, asking him why he has killed everyone. Sure explains he has not killed them and they have been sent to Oa and judgement is in progress. He also says that initiates need to be selected to fight the darkness and the weaponeers of Qard. As he attempts to depart, Jo reaches for him and the ring which Jon threw and she wears tears a hole in his barrier. She is instantly engulfed in green light and the barrier comes down; replaced with a giant version of the Lantern symbol. Later, a helicopter containing Carol Ferris and Hector Hammond arrives, with him claiming this city now belongs to him.

ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER #5 by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez. Middleton City is in darkness because of the attack on the power plants and is being described as the ‘great darkness’. Weeks pass on the city is plunged into absolute chaos with two person teams of teens and their “shadow selves” looting electronics and descending into barbaric acts. John has the Martian Manhunter check on Bridget. At a diner, John sees people eating what he sees as tainted hamburgers. In the end, he is hit by an ambulance causing John to see himself “swimming in a sea of darkness.”

ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #9 by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval. Superman has been critically injured and is undergoing a medical procedure to help save his life, with him having flashbacks to his like on Krypton. There is an attack from the Peacekeepers and Superman tries to remove the bullets by himself but is overwhelmed so the Omegas use a Father Box upon him. Meanwhile, .Lois is at Lazarus and confronts Ra’s al Ghul, who tells her to stay in line as he threatens her father’s life. Superman and the Omegas battle the Peacekeepers but things go badly as Primus is ready to execute the Peacekeepers and a Boom Tube is activated, getting most of them away. Superman argues with Primus about her methods and he is about to leave when he is informed that Jimmy was left behind and captured. In the end, Jimmy is being interrogated by Lois.

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #10 by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman. Diana, Ferdinand, and Petra are trapped by Clea’s fish-men. Diana makes the decision to leave with Petra and promises to rescue Ferdinand after he pushes Petra to safety, leading to Clea demanding that Petra be captured and Diana be slain. She makes her way through the maze and opens a doorway, telling Petra to walk through it, leading to her appearing in the Hieron with Steve, Etta and the others. The fish-men catch up with Diana and she is overcome with hallucinogens and is shoved into a pit  where she will have to fight for her life.

ACTION COMICS #1088 by Mark Waid and Skylar Partridge. Young Clark is still trying to adjust to his public outing as Superboy. Government agents arrive in Smallville in search of clues about Superboy. A fire breaks out at school and Clark becomes Superboy to save his friends, leading to him confronting the head of the company that didn’t really install the school’s sprinkler system, forcing him to fight back the anger he feels. In the end, Clark’s teacher arrives at the Kent house, saying he is here to talk to Superboy..

AQUAMAN #7 by Jeremy Adams and Michael Shelfer. Aquaman and Zan are trying to avoid Demon Dagon’s forces when the Nautilus arrives. They arrive at the Flowway, which takes them to Lost Atlantis. Aquaman calls out for Mera but encounters a woman who resembles her, only to find out that she is Andrina-his daughter. He also encounters aged Garth and Jackson and, upon finding Mera, sees she is old and dying, as Dagon had manage to suck out any spirit she once had. Dagon arrives and Aquaman teams up with his daughter to fight back.

BATGIRL #9 by Tate Brombal and Takeshi Miyazawa. Cassandra finally arrives at Dragon Ranch and meets Ben Turner: AKA Bronze Tiger. Explaining that her mother is dead, she demands to know who or what the Jade Tiger is. The pair fight before they are interrupted by Ben’s son Tenji, who is revealed to be the Jade Tiger. The two of them battle and during the fight he reveals he is the son of the Bronze Tiger and Lady Shiza, making him Cassandra’s brother. At that moment, Norbu the Untested of the Unburied clan, arrives, will plans to kill Batgirl.

BATMAN #161 by Geof Loeb, Jim Lee, and Scott Williams. Robin has been captured and Batman offers himself in a trade but is mocked by Hush. The heroes escape due to Damian using ‘birds’ they he has upgraded from a design of his father. Hush flees and Batman goes after him, getting saved by Damian and Bane, who Damian broke out of Blackgate as part of a debt he owed. Elsewhere, Jason and Nightwing find themselves held at gunpoint by The Joker. But Nightwing forces them to flee, leaving The Joker in control and angering Jason. After looking at clues in Hush’s hideout, Batman heads to the hospital where Barbara is visiting with her wounded father. Batgirl confronts her mentor, blaming him for her father’s condition and she fights him, sending him through a rooftop chimney. As he recovers, he finds himself surrounded by Huntress, Catwoman, Nightwing and Robin.

BATMAN AND ROBIN #23 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Miguel Mendonca. With Etrigan’s help, Batman sees the ceremony that brought memento into this world and took Nicodemus Crowe’s son as its host. In the city under Gotham, Damian and the Gotham Irregulars team up to fight against Memento. Batman arrives and saves his son and the others, while Memento flees. Lautrec chases after  and finds Eddie Burroughs. When Batman arrives, he finds her knocked out and is soon knocked out too. When he wakes, he finds the two of them captured and he envisions the death of his parents while Memento trains a gun on Batman.

BATMAN AND ROBIN: JASON TODD #2 by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. The masked man from last issue is challenged by Batman but the person flees, saying that Batman has gotten soft. Robin confronts Batman, angered that the hero believed Robin killed this man. In a flashback, we see that the masked man had arrived and shot the crook. After teaming up with Nightwing, Robin heads off and meets with the masked man, who asks if Robin is with Batman or him. In the end, the masked man and Robin are seen swinging through the city.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #41 by Mark Waid and Adrian Gutierrez. Robin finds himself running from Bizarros when Batman and Superman arrive. Superman tells them that they are on Bizarro World and they were transported there because of a dimensional rift. There are multiple Bizarro Supermen here, along with other Bizarros, some of whom are crying for help. They take one, a Bizarro version of Jimmy Olsen, who tells of some infection that is causing the Bizarros to stop thinking backward. The heroes find an old version of the duplicator ray that created the Bizarros and Robin activates the ray and hits the Bizarros with Blue K. They head to the Fortress of Multitudes where Bizarros Superman and Bizarro Batman are waiting for them.

BIRDS OF PREY #23 by Kelly Thompson and Sami Basri. Oracle’s headquarters has exploded, apparently killing Barbara, Poem and Cela, which leads Dinah, Cassandra and Sin to go to their meeting spot. Once there, they discover that Barbara, Poe,  and Cela are very much alive, as Barbara blew it up to keep the enemy from gaining access to the Oracle system. They devise a plan that takes the Birds into the Shadow Army Base. Dinah unleashes her scream that immediately affects the villains, except for Barda, who is possessed by Inque. In response, Cela brings in the whole team: Harley, Poe, Constantine, Grace Choi, Onyx and Vixen.

DETECTIVE COMICS #1099 by Tom Taylor and Lee Garbett. Bullock has been tortured and now has been wounded in an intense gunfight. Penguin pulls Bullock to safety as Batman fights against Ambrose and Elixir’s soldiers, resulting in them fleeing.. Batman instructs Oracle to scan the fleeing criminals to deduce their identities. The Penguin captures Ambrose and he and Bullock interrogate him, scaring him into cooperating. The soldiers are promised long lives for helping but it is actually just a Ponzi scheme that never delivers, and the only people who prosper, through a Lazarus Pit, is Ambrose, Bullock’s now deceased torturer, and the leader-Perpetuam Vita. They go to Vita’s compound and see he is living in a sterile environment. He kills Ambrose and them seals himself in for the next five years, with Batman promising to be there when that time ends. In the end, Bullock visits Sulley and slips him a vial of Elixir.

FIRE AND ICE: WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER #4 by Joanne Starer and Stephen Byrne. Grodd has arrived and wants to take Linka home, even though she is currently in Charlie’s body. That is when Superman arrives and engages the great ape. In Hell, bea is deponent over killing Beefeater and Tora comforts her. But Bea figures out Tora is really Beezlebub and the real Tora is visiting her imprisoned mother. Beezlebub arrives at the prison and Tora offers herself in exchange for her mother’s freedom. He offers a deal: Tora’s mother can go back to the real world if Bea takes her place.

THE FLASH #23 by Simon Spurrier and Vasco Georgiev. The Shade meets with one of the Wallys and Wally’s son, explaining how he cut a deal with Eclipso to end his life because he didn’t want to live without her in his life. Jai transports to The Shades apartment and reaches inside of her. When he returns, he explains that The Shade was lied to as whatever was killing her was put in there by Eclipso and Jai has removed it. The Shade, now teaming up with the heroes, explains that the black diamond was mined on Apokolips and that Wally and Jai should find the flaw inside the diamond. They find the diamond and also Foxy who has been holding Eclipso at bay with his love for his family. Meanwhile, the real Wally is joined by the Flash Family, as they are looking to their ultimate destruction. Suddenly Irey lights up an eliminates the entire horde. Wally makes the decision to send everyone who isn’t him away because he is facing this alone.

THE FLASH: BAD MOON RISING SPECIAL #1 by Alex Palnadel and Daniel Bayliss. BAD MOON RISING PART FOUR. A scared man finds himself on the run, only to encounter the person he is fleeing: The Shade. Before The Shade can act, Starman arrives, allowing the man to flee. The Shade explains how he met and fell in love with Hope O’Dare, slowly dying of Cancer. The Shade goes into the Shadowlands and meets with Simon Culp before making his way to The Entity, revealed to be Eclipso, where he asks the villain to make him mortal. In exchange, he is forced to be Eclipso’s “guard dog” in his attack on the moon. He eventually ends up killing many of the horde of Wally Wests, until he has a conversation with a severed head that makes him go back and visit Hope. Although he attempts to make her like himself, he heads back to the moon, meeting Wally and his son; saying the boy needs to come “into the Shade”. Continued in THE FLASH #23.

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: UNFIT FOR ORBIT #1 by Leah Williams and Haining. Harley is taking a shower when a masked thief shows up, revealed to be Selina Kyle. Selina reveals she wants to hire the Destruction Agency for a job and Harley calls Ivy, who is getting “busy” with Janet from HR. Selina reveals she is looking for an artifact known as The Conduit and it is currently housed inside of a private club called Lunaria. Once inside, they subdue the guards and find the “artifact”: a young boy. And this could be a problem because the person in charge is…Despero?

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: UNFIT FOR ORBIT #2 by Leah Williams and Haining. Harley break The Conduit out of his prison just as Despero and an army of Kalanorians arrive. He uses his mental powers to stop the Sirens from continuing their battle against the Kalanorians, sending Harley into captivity, while Catwoman is stuck with the Kalanorians. And Ivy deduces is not a nightclub but a spaceship preparing to takeoff.

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: UNFIT FOR ORBIT #3 by Leah Williams and Haining. With everything going badly and Despero drawing the club customers into his ship for fuel, The Conduit triggers the fire alarm and the people flee. Despite that, the ship takes off and is revealed to be a warship to conquer the planet.

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: UNFIT FOR ORBIT #4 by Leah Williams and Haining. The warship takes off and begins to start compromising Gothamites into Despero’s own image. On the ship, the Sirens try their best to fight back against Despero. The ship leaves the atmosphere but that is only so it get aim the Kala-Ray at the planet

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: UNFIT FOR ORBIT #5 by Leah Williams and Haining. The fight continues but now Despero is trying to worm his way inside Harley’s head. Ivy tears through the Kalanorians but that made be too late as the Kala-Ray has been deployed and is heading straight for Gotham. At the last possible moment, Ivy is able to shut the ray down and Harley fights back. Despero captures her again but The Conduit shows Ivy the air lock control and Ivy hits the switch, threatening to send all of them into deep space. The Sirens help each other and they stay on the ship but Despero ends up in space. Unfortunately, the Flame of Py’tar is no longer keeping the ship aloft and it begins to fall back to Earth. Leave it to Harley, who sends out a text to a friend and Power Girl arrives to gently lower the ship. When they exit the ship, they get dirty looks from Gothamites even though the Sirens just saved them all. In the end, the Conduit is revealed to be a child and is returned to his home in Bulgaria. But that ray that DIDN’T hit Gotham? It did make it’s way into the ocean and now there are sea creatures that are extensions of Despero.
