DC UNIVERSE Month 64, Part 1

ACTION COMICS #1055 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Dan Jurgens, Dorado Quick, Rafa Sandoval, Lee Weeks, and Yasmin Flores Montanez. The Super Family, along with Metallo, take on Henshaw and his creations as they search for Tracy Corben. Unsuccessful, they head to the Fortress of Solitude where Clark reactivates The Eradicator, who leads them to Henshaw. They find him and Tracy, who has been tuned into a version of Metallo and she cannot control her powers. In the second tale, Lois helps Clark temporarily defeat Doombreaker. She shows him the message left by Glyanna, who says she will free Jon if Clark helps her put down the revolution on her planet. In the third tale, John Henry Irons makes his sales pitch regarding Steelworks. In the end, Mr. terrific meets with Irons, telling him that Steel messed up.

ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN: JON KENT #3 by Tom Taylor and Clayton Henry. Jon awakes inside a Hall of Justice, where he encounters this world’s Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Lex Luthor. Flash informs them of attacks on the barracks in Gotham and Star City, causing Superman and Wonder Woman to head out. In Gotham, Damian confronts his father, which is interrupted by Jon. Damian, apparently super-powered, takes down Jon and his father, although Bruce gets away. Superman reveals that there was an accident where Dick Grayson died, with Bruce blaming Damian and being disowned by him. Later, Jon tours the world and saves a child, understanding that the citizens fear Superman

BATGIRLS #18 by Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad. The girls continue to investigate the mysterious sniper. Officer later gets a data drive from a disguised Barbara Gordon. At Clover Credit Union, Alyssa finds herself in danger as armed robbers but uses her ability, with some hidden help from Stephanie, to take them down and free herself and the other hostage. Later, they learn that the batgirls have allegedly turned themselves in. In the end, Grace leads a protest demanding that the police free the Batgirls.

BATMAN #135 by Chip Zdarsky, Mike Hawthorne, Jorge Jimenez, and Mikel Janin. With Gotham in flames, an injured Batman creates a replacement hand to reveal the one he lost. Red Mask uses his device to view the birth of The Joker. Meanwhile, Selina and her team try to quell the riot and save people from the gas. Batman faces off against Punchline and Red Mask, who has decided his job is to create Jokers. Red Mask is injured by Batman’s new claw hand and jumps into the Multiverse. Batman follows, moving through the Batman 89 universe, where he meets himself. As Red Mask continues to move through the Multiverse, Batman follows, moving through all the various Batman incarnations, including Kingdom Come, Batman 66, Batman Beyond and more. In the Dark Knight Multiverse, this Bruce Wayne gives him a new hand before Batman ends up at the end of the Multiverse where The Joker is a giant space shark.. Using Bat Shark Repellant, he defeats both the shark and Red Mask. Tim arrives after his long journey to find Bruce and brings him home.

BATMAN INCORPORATED #8 by Ed Brisson and John Timms. Dr. Wu is dead, Skyspoider is gone and Ghost-Maker blames Bat-Man of China. Bat-Man of China reveals that Alpaca, who was responsible for this, is his sister. Meanwhile, Charles sits by his father’s bedside and tells Jiro to find the person who shot him. Nightrunner tries to stop a hostage taking in Paris, leading to him to ask for assistance. In London, a prsion has been broken into and Dai Laffyn has disappeared, leaving behind a dead guard bearing the trademark smile of a Joker attack. In Tokyo, Ghost-Maker and El Gaucho find The Joker, who reveals his own team known as Joker Incorporated. He calls Tap Dance Man, who has hostages of his own.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #15 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. Underneath the Allegheny Mountains, our heroes face off against Ultramorpho, who is using his Kryptonite powers to injure Superman until Metamorpho arrives to lend a hand. Also arriving is Batman, encased in an armor made from the Metal Men. Things go badly and Robin is injured, meaning the Metal Men leave the fight to save Robin. Robin calls the Teen Titans for help, but they are facing their own version of the robot uprising. Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., the Doom Patrol encounters Mekanique, who is controlling the townspeople. In Colorado, the Challengers of the Unknown face off against Ultivac.. Batman and Superman find themselves captured, along with robot masters Magnus, Dr. Cyber, the Bug-Eyed Bandit and Toyman: all captured by Newmazo. Robin reaches out to Supergirl, who is battling Chemo. But the Batmobile has been compromised and it may cost Robin his life.

BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #1 by Tom King, Ed Brisson, Christopher Cantwell, Dan Mora, Mitch Gerads, Jeff Sppokes, and Javier Rodriguez. A little girl named Helen is lost but meets with a strange man, who is revealed to be The Joker. Meanwhile, a man named Claridge dies at midnight and breaks into a smile at his death. The Joker returns Helen to her father and then kills him. In the second tale, a new Stormwatch team, led by Bones and consisting of Ravager, Shado, Flint, Winter, Core, and Dr. Xanto Zema, go on their first mission: breaking into Iron Heights to free Huskk. But a Time Storm bomb is reveased that endangers the mission, leading to Core saving the team. In the third tale, Superman investigates a ring belonging to the Order of the Black Lamp. In the last tale, a future/alternate Batman battles The Joker, eventually finding a pair of brothers: Jason and Richard.

BLACK ADAM  #11 by Christopher Priest and Eddy Barrows Malik observes Theo kissing Jasmin, who has actually been possessed by the goddess Ishtar. Adam battles Hergal and then Ibac Elsewhere, Malik saves his niece from an explosion that destroys their apartment, leading him to battle Sargon Adam comes to help but Sargon steals Adam’s powers and has seemingly assimilated the hero. .

CATWOMAN #55 by Tini Howard and Nico Leon. Selina and Eiko team up against the crime lords before fleeing. Meanwhile, Dario agrees to have a fight to the death with Noah. After some training, Catwoman takes Dario, in disguise, to see his father, laying down rules to the Don. He calls Black Mask and they agree that it’s time to get their own hands dirty.

CITY BOY #1 by Greg Pak and Minkyu Jung. Many years ago, the future hero City Boy came across an experiment and found himself transformed into someone who could access the living consciousness of the city. Now grown up, Cameron comes across a homeless man and finds himself involved with Boss Chung, who demands that Cameron steal for him to save the life of the beggar. When he comes up short on the amount Chung wants, he slits the man’s throat, which only serves to enrage our hero.

CYBORG #1 by Morgan Hampton and Tom Raney. Giz and Mammoth have a plan, but that’s get thwarted by Cyborg. He gets called to meet with Sarah who confesses that she knew Victor was back in Detroit and never told his father before he died. He goes to his father’s funeral and, after the ceremony, Marcus invites Vic to visit his company called Solace. Back home, Vic gets visited by a robot that may actually be his father.

DANGER STREET #6 by Tom King and Jorge Fornes. Warlord is in a hospital and Lady Cop watches over him. After a trip to the morgue, she ends up back in her office and sees a plate on the back of Dr. fate’s helmet. It says The Green Team. Meanwhile, Manhunter chases after Abdul, but he escapes. He tries to access funds, but is locked out. Calling Commodore, he learns that he has been cut loose from The Green Team.Abdul goes to the only place he feels safe: The Outsiders. Orion returns to Apokolips to inform High Father and Darkseid that he found Atlas’ soul but could not retrieve it. In the end, Starman has been captured by the remaining Dingbats.

DAWN OF DC PRIMER #1 by Joshua Williamson and Leandra Fernandez. Amanda Waller has assembled a team, that is now questioning her actions. Meanwhile, Peacemaker secures the Helmet of Hate. Waller takes out one of her team, telling the rest they are tasked with giving pardons to those who kill superheroes.

THE FLASH #798 by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, and Will Robson. Wally and Linda’s son Wade is born. As Wally and Mr. Terrific test Terrific’s Temporal device, Granny Goodness, disguised as a nurse, kidnaps Wade. Hourman arrives at Terrific’s and tells Wally about the kidnapping. While they decide what to do, Gold Beetle arrives and a team consisting of Wally, Gold Beetle, Wallace and Plastic Man, head off to get Wade back. In the process, Omega-bam-Bam arrives to join the team.

THE FLASH #799 by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, and Oclair Albert. Part of the team makes it to Granny Goodness’ throne room while the rest have to compete against the Anti-Monitor Wally chases after Granny, who threatens using the Eternity Mind. But Wally defeats her, forcing her to flee. The team look after her captured children, including one who is determined to be Mr. Terrific’s son. The team heads home but it’s obvious that it took longer than expected, as Wally is sporting a full beard, with promises to tell Linda the whole story in the future.

GREEN ARROW #2 by Joshua Williamson and Sean Izaakse. Ollie is stranded in Sector 867-5309, where he is fighting crime. Troublemaker is hired to take him out but Lian arrives and saves the day. Later, he explains that he cannot explain why they cannot go home and, as he explains how much he misses his family, she reminds him of his son Connor. Just when he gets a realization that he had a son, the pair are transported away again. Back on Eartrh, Roy and Dinah go on a hunt for Amanda Waller, which leads them into a confrontation with Peacemaker and Peacewrecker.

GREEN LANTERN #1 by Jeremy Adams and Xermanico. Hal Jordan is back on Earth and meets up with Carol Ferris, who explains that she has moved on and has a new boyfriend. Hal does some flying for Ferris on a simulator and does not do well. Not to mention, Sinestro is hiding in a bar and learns that Hal is back. In the backup, John Stewart is getting used to being home with his mother while guy has to contend with the Revenant Queen.

HARLEY QUINN # 30 by Tini Howard, Nicole Maines, Sweeney Boo, and Mindy Lee. Bud and Lou explain that, because Harley ended up with the Vropal Fish, Captain Carrot’s Zoo Crew is killed during their battle with Backseid. She realizes she needs to find a way to get to Earth-26 and get Captain Carrot his fish back. She reaches out to Dr. Fate for advice and that leads her to build her own version of the Cosmic Treadmill. She uses the treadmill and she meets with a destitute Captain Carrot, who compares her to The Joker as he mourns his friends. Back on Earth, Ivy comes home and sees that the plant she gave her girlfriend has been destroyed. In the backup, Harley dreams of being a knight who is tasked with waking a sleeping Ivy with a kiss. But, of course, she wakes before she gets to the good part!.

THE JOKER: THE MAN WHO STOPPED LAUGHING #8 by Matthew Rosenberg, Carmine Di Giandomenico and Francesco Francavilla. Underneath Gotham, The Joker saves a drowning Solomon Grundy. Later, The Joker tussles with Killer Croc. Above the city, Jason is being transferred to Blackgate when a disguised Barbara Gordon arrives and relays the situation to someone. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the other joker battles with Manhunter, but he stabs her with a broken bottle and flees. She catches up with him and that’s where Killer Moth gets involved. He’s here to kill this Joker, but the villain convinces Killer Moth to go with him back to Gotham to kill the other Joker.. he also offers him two million dollars to do the job. After handing two kids a live grenade, the pair, along with the very dead Mr. Waffles, hit the road back to Gotham.

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA # 4 by Geoff Johns, Mikel Janin and Jerry Ordway. Deadman, Detective Chimp, and Madame Xanadu investigate the snow globe, which reveals various fates of JSA members, leading Xanadu to decide that they need to get the snow globe back to Helena before Degaton kills her. Elsewhere, Degaton attacks the JSA, but this time Helena severs his finger bearing the Kryptonite ring and Dr. fate sends him into the past. In 1947, Degaton meets his older self who tells his younger self that he needs to kill Helena to make his plan succeed. His plan is to perform a sacrificial ritual in order to replace the JSA with one of his own. Helena heads to  Gotham, where she meets her father and says she has come back in time to save his life.
